Alexander Mazevski advises multinational businesses as well as family businesses, private foundations and high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs) on corporate and commercial matters. A further focus of his practice is export controls, economic sanctions and related banking and payment matters, particularly for technology and industrial companies engaged in cross-border business.

His experience in this field dates back to 2012, when he worked in the international defence and firearms trade and gained first-hand experience with U.S. defence trade controls, including U.S.-regulated firearms imports and ITAR-controlled exports. Today, his practice includes dual-use and product classification, end-use and end-user due diligence, licensing, technology transfers, sanctions-related banking and payment issues, and export compliance.

Drawing on an international career in the life sciences and security sectors, where he remains active as an entrepreneur, he frequently acts as a sparring partner on corporate strategy and cross-border business matters. His practice also includes conflict resolution and mediation.

Prior to founding VALFORD Attorneys, Alexander Mazevski worked at PwC Legal in M&A, Private Wealth and Family Business and previously at Schönherr in M&A. He graduated in law from the University of Vienna and completed a postgraduate Master of Laws programme at the University of Hamburg.
